George is what my wife used to call me when I was running late, when she was being sarcastic or just wanted to harass me. So we’ll name him that.
George is also the way people seem to look at me although I don’t see myself that way at all.
First let me define what I mean by Grumpy Old Introvert.
Grumpy: Just ask my four grandchildren who live with me. I believe past generations called it “set in their ways.”
Old: If I make it to my next birthday I’ll have traveled this mortal coil for 75 years.
Introvert: Yep, that’s me. Frankly, I’d rather speak before a group of people than mingle among them. Somehow when I try to make conversation with strangers I almost always offend the person I am speaking with. I am now a widower, but when she was alive, I called my wife my ‘saving grace’ in social situations. Everyone loved her and because of that they put up with me.
I do not consider myself to be antisocial. I’m just non-social which of course is mostly because of the aforementioned reason.
However, I do prefer solitude over crowds. I tend to listen rather than speak, evaluate rather than react and quietly seek solutions to problems faced by others.
But I should add that I am not passive if I encounter something that I believe to be wrong, whether in principle or approach. And I have the emotional scars to prove it.
That’s enough about me for now though. We can get better acquainted as time goes on. What I hope these posts will do is encourage and inspire. I want this to be a place you can visit that is peaceful. We’ll leave political upheaval, social upheaval and national decline for others to discuss.
My ramblings will be clean, family-friendly and devoid of profanity in any form.
I want it to be a place that you can virtually come in, sit a spell and take a load off your feet or heart.
George may not be looking forward to visiting with you again, but I am.
But until then, remember that whatever suggestions I might make, Your Mileage May Vary (YMMV).
